1700 light years away in Cygnus (the Swan), an immense field of ionized hydrogen is giving rise to countless bright, young stars. While it may look like our continent, with the dark region being the Gulf of Mexico, this nebula is over a hundred thousand million times wider than North America at its widest point, making the entire Earth look small in comparison! To find this object in the sky, look for the Summer Triangle, and it will be located close to the star Deneb.
